A medium-tall drink, the Daisy is a fruit juice–based cocktail that is sweetened with grenadine or a red liqueur. A classic that has more than a hundred years of history, Daisies are a sumptuous relative of Cobblers. A Daisy always has a red tinge to it and is occasionally finished by a compatible liqueur floated on top at the last second . The name Daisy seemingly derives not from the flower but from slang for something extraordinary—from which the word doozy is also derived.

Here is our simple “Dry January” recipe…..

Ingredients (5)

• 50ml 0% gin
• 1/4 fresh squeezed lime juice
• 2 teaspoons grenadine
• Cold club soda / fizzy water
• Slice of lime and sprig of mint

METHOD

Shake the gin, lime & grenadine with ice; then strain into a chilled glass filled with cracked ice. Add club soda or sparkling water to fill. Garnish with a lime wedge and a mint sprig.
