Negroni
Whilst there are many variations on Negroni, including a white and a sparkling version, we still favour the classic recipe. The cocktail’s origins are disputed, with some believing that it was created, in Florence, by Count Camillo Negroni in around 1919. However, this was never documented and the first written record of Negroni comes from a French Cocktail Book published in 1929. The drinks popularity in France has been lasting and we celebrate Negroni week, every year, between 22nd and 28th September.
Negroni us a bold flavoured cocktail, bittersweet and herbal, with juniper notes from the gin, bitter and citrusy notes from the Italian bitters and the sweetness derives from the dark fruit and vanilla of the vermouth. The orange peel garnish tops off the cocktail, giving it a fragrant citrus aroma.
